Join the US Men’s Academy: Subscription vs. Active Membership
At the US Men’s Academy (USMA), we offer two ways to engage with our organization—subscribing to our website and becoming an active member. Each option provides unique benefits tailored to different levels of participation and involvement.
Website Subscription (Open to all)
Subscribing to the USMA website is a great way to stay connected and support our mission, even if you can't commit to full active membership. But it’s more than just a subscription—it’s a way to directly invest in the future of our young men. Every subscription helps us purchase essential gear and provide invaluable training. Your support also assists those who may struggle to afford the necessary equipment, ensuring all our young men are equipped to participate in our real-world missions. As a subscriber, you will receive:
Access to Current SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures): Stay informed with detailed guides, protocols, and best practices that prepare you for a range of scenarios, from emergency response to everyday readiness.
Exclusive Packing Lists: Ensure you have everything you need for training events, outdoor adventures, and disaster response with our curated packing lists.
Invitations to In-Person USMA Events: Get priority invitations to our regional training sessions, workshops, and events, where you can connect with like-minded individuals and learn hands-on skills from experienced instructors.
Active Membership (Men only)
For those ready to make a deeper commitment, active membership in the USMA is about more than just online access. Active members are an integral part of our organization, headquartered in North Georgia, and play a hands-on role in supporting and serving the community. Becoming an active member comes with expectations and rewards, including:
Participation in On-the-Ground Operations: Join our team in real-world missions, such as search and rescue, disaster relief, community service projects, and training exercises.
Structured Training Programs: Engage in regular, in-depth training sessions designed to build essential skills, leadership qualities, and physical conditioning. Our programs are crafted to challenge, grow, and strengthen each member.
Monthly Meetings and Training Sessions: Active members must be able to attend monthly meetings and training sessions held in and around, but not limited to, the North Georgia mountains. These sessions are crucial for building skills, camaraderie, and the spirit of teamwork that drives the USMA.
Red Cell Trainee Section: New members begin their journey in Red Cell, a mentorship-focused section where they will undergo the classes and training required to meet our standards. Until they pass these training standards, they will remain in Red Cell, learning the fundamentals and honing their skills. Once they’ve proven themselves, they will move onto a Green Troop team and participate in more advanced operations.
Opportunities for Leadership: As you progress, there are many opportunities to step up and take on leadership roles, organizing events, leading teams, and helping guide the future of the USMA.
Which Path Is Right for You?
Whether you’re looking to support us from afar or are ready to get your hands dirty and become an active part of the action, the US Men’s Academy has a place for you. Subscribing to our website is a fantastic way to start, giving you access to invaluable resources while directly supporting the training, gear, and participation of our young men. US Men’s Academy (USMA): Troop Structure and Participation
The US Men’s Academy (USMA) is organized into a cohesive unit known as a Squadron, which is made up of three distinct troops: Green Troop, Red Troop, and Blue Troop. This structure ensures effective training, mentorship, and community involvement across all age groups, creating a unified approach to leadership and skill development.
Green Troop: Men Over 18
Green Troop consists of adult men aged 18 and older. These men are a core part of the USMA Squadron, serving as mentors, instructors, and leaders for the younger members of Red and Blue Troop. Green Troop members directly participate in training exercises and organizational events, guiding the younger troops through hands-on activities and real-world missions. Their role is vital to the success of the Squadron, as they bring experience, leadership, and support.
Red Troop and Blue Troop: Youth Ages 6 to 17
Red and Blue Troop are for boys and teens, aged 6 to 17. Together, these two groups are integral parts of the Squadron, focusing on building skills, teamwork, and leadership. The distinction between Red and Blue Troop is based on age and experience, allowing for more tailored training that challenges and develops each age group appropriately. Red Troop and Blue Troop members train alongside Green Troop mentors, gaining valuable hands-on experience that prepares them for future leadership roles.
The Squadron: Unity Through Structure
When Green Troop, Red Troop, and Blue Troop come together, they form a Squadron. This unified structure ensures that all members, regardless of age, are part of a larger team, working together toward common goals. This integration fosters mentorship, teamwork, and the passing of knowledge from experienced men to the younger generation, creating a strong, interconnected community.
Dad Participation: A Key Element
Fathers of Red and Blue Troop members play a crucial role within the Squadron. While we understand that busy schedules may sometimes prevent dads from attending every event, maximum participation is strongly encouraged. Dads who engage with their sons in training and activities not only provide essential supervision but also strengthen the bond between father and son. By participating, they set an example, support their children’s growth, and contribute to the success of the entire Squadron.
Red Cell: Training for Future Green Troop Members
For adult men over 18 who are new to the USMA or have not yet completed the required training to join Green Troop, there is Red Cell. Red Cell is a mentorship-focused group designed to prepare these men for full participation in Green Troop. They will learn essential skills, undergo training, and work closely with existing Green Troop members until they meet the standards required to be integrated into the Squadron’s main Green Troop team.
Why This Structure Matters
The USMA's multi-generational approach ensures that skills, values, and knowledge are passed down effectively. The combined structure of Green, Red, and Blue Troop as a Squadron means that every member has a role to play and an opportunity to grow. By uniting adult men and young boys in a supportive environment, we create a community where leadership is nurtured, and practical skills are developed, all while fostering a sense of camaraderie and purpose.
If you're interested in joining Green Troop (Red cell), Red Troop, Blue Troop, or have questions about how you can participate, please reach out to us. Together, we can build stronger communities, one Squadron at a time.
