Membership Terms and Conditions

Welcome to the US Men's Academy (USMA). By subscribing to our membership, you agree to the following terms, conditions, and standards. Please note that the guidelines outlined below are goals meant to help prepare you for active participation in Green Troop and do not serve as barriers to joining. Instead, they are intended to set clear expectations and foster a path for growth and success.

General Policies

  • Non-Refundable Membership: All membership subscriptions are non-refundable.

  • Right to Refuse Service: We reserve the right to refuse service to any individual at our discretion.

  • Membership Termination: Membership may be terminated by the USMA for any reason deemed necessary.

Discipline Standards

At USMA, we use martial discipline to maintain order, build character, and cultivate resilience. This may include verbal corrections, physical exercises (such as military-style drills), and written demerits. Discipline is key to upholding the high standards of our organization and ensuring each member is held to a level of accountability that strengthens both the individual and the group.

USMA Candidate Standards

The following are the candidate standards for Red, Blue, and Green Troops. These standards serve as goals to help prepare you for participation in Green Troop and do not prevent you from joining. Each candidate has six months to work toward achieving these standards, with support and mentorship from other members of the community.

Red and Blue Troop (Boys and Young Men Ages 6-17):

  • Standards for the Father:

    • Must adhere to the Code of Conduct at all times.

    • Must be recommended by another father already in the program.

    • Should have an understanding and respect for the Christian foundation of USMA.

    • Must complete an interview with a Squadron Granddad and one member of the Board.

    • Must pass a combined fitness and marksmanship exam. You will have six months to reach the required standard. Other dads and granddads will be available to support and help you reach this goal.

    • Waivers may be granted on a case-by-case basis.

    • If unable to meet the standard within the six-month period, you and your son will be dropped from the program but may reapply during the next open enrollment.

    • Fathers are responsible for ensuring that both they and their children have the required gear for adventure events. Assistance is available, but gear procurement is primarily your responsibility. Other dads can help guide your gear selections and address any questions you have.

    • Must have adequate time to dedicate to your child’s participation in USMA activities. While not all events require attendance, participation in monthly Squadron events and occasional rotational “Dad” responsibilities is essential. Single dads with visitation restrictions are encouraged to apply; we value your presence and can provide support.

  • Standards for the Son:

    • Must adhere to the Code of Conduct at all times.

    • Must memorize the Troop’s SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and pass a written test.

    • Should show continual progress in individual training.

    • Must participate in a recognized, formal martial art or a full-contact sport (during its respective season).

    • Must be capable of enduring challenging conditions.

Green Troop (Unmarried, Childless Men Age 18 and Over):

  • Must adhere to the Code of Conduct at all times.

  • Must be recommended by a father in the program.

  • Must complete an interview with a Squadron Granddad and a board member.

  • If transitioning from Red or Blue Troop, must start paying dues as a single adult.

  • Must pass a combined fitness and marksmanship exam within six months of starting to pay dues, unless the exam has been completed within the past 12 months while participating in Red or Blue Troop.

Building and Maintaining Strong Communities

At USMA, we believe in fostering strength, unity, and responsibility. The standards and conditions outlined above are not meant to exclude, but to prepare. By working together to achieve these goals, we can ensure that our community remains strong, resilient, and supportive. We encourage all members to work hard, stay dedicated, and remember that growth is a process that is best navigated with the guidance of others.

Thank you for your interest in the US Men's Academy. We are excited to welcome new members who share our commitment to discipline, responsibility, and community growth.
